“Carers Australia is very pleased that Tasmania, South Australia and the ACT have agreed to participate in the roll out of NDIS launch sites," said Carers Australia President, Tim Moore.
"These states show a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people with a disability and their carers and a genuine willingness to improve the disability system,” said Mr Moore.
“Carers Australia recognises that the adoption of the NDIS has the potential to change the lives of Australians with a disability and their carers, allowing them greater access to services and supports and in so doing create the capacity to make real and lasting change for people with disability, allowing them to participate more fully in life.
“Carers Australia looks forward to working collaboratively with Government to refine the detail of the policy and procedural aspects of the NDIS,” said Mr Moore.
“We strongly urge government to provide ample opportunity for carers to participate in the further development of this very important scheme.”
